Privacy Policy

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information described below.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Name (optional) — used to personalize the App.
• Email address — when you sign in with email, Apple, or Google.
• Prayer requests, prayer notes, devotional completions, streak history, and other content you create in the App.
• Contact entries you add to the App, including a contact’s name and optionally phone number, when you choose to attach a person to a prayer request.

Information collected automatically

• Anonymized crash logs and performance data, which do not include your name, email, or any other personally identifying information.
• A unique account identifier issued by our authentication provider, used to associate your data with your account.

Information stored only on your device

• Your daily reminder time, theme preference, and other local app settings.
• Your selection of apps to lock when using the optional App Shield feature (iOS 16+). This selection is held in iOS Family Controls on your device and is never transmitted to us.

We do not collect your location, your device’s advertising identifier, the contents of your text messages or emails, photos, audio recordings, browsing history, or financial information beyond the subscription transaction records Apple or Google share with us.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide and operate the App’s features (devotionals, prayer tracking, streak history).
• Authenticate your account and keep it secure.
• Process and validate your subscription purchases.
• Send the daily reminder notifications you opt in to.
• Diagnose crashes and improve performance.
• Respond to your support inquiries.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with third-party advertisers. We do not use your information to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

We use the following service providers to operate the App. They process your data on our behalf under their own privacy policies:

• Clerk (clerk.com) — handles your account, sign-in, and authentication. Stores your name and email address.
• Convex (convex.dev) — our database. Stores your prayer entries, devotional history, streak data, contact entries, and other content you create in the App, all linked to your account ID.
• RevenueCat (revenuecat.com) — manages your subscription status. Receives transaction confirmations from Apple or Google; never sees your payment card information.
• Sentry (sentry.io) — receives crash reports and performance data. Configured to not include your name, email, or any user-identifying information in crash events.
• Apple App Store and Google Play Store — distribute the App and process subscription payments. We never see or store your payment information.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your account and the content you create in the App are stored on servers operated by our service providers and transmitted over HTTPS. We rely on the security practices of our authentication and database providers, both of which use industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Children’s Privacy

The App is rated 4+ but is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at startwithgod.legal@protonmail.com so we can take appropriate action.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Delete your account and all associated data.
• Export your data in a portable format.
• Withdraw consent for optional features (notifications, contacts, App Shield).

In-app account deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the App: Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your prayer entries, contact entries, streak history, devotional records, and account, and cannot be undone.

Web account deletion

If you no longer have the App installed, you can request account deletion at our account deletion page.

Permissions

You can revoke notifications, contacts access, and Family Controls access at any time in your device’s Settings.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account and the data you create in the App for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (either in-app or via the web form), your data is removed from our database. Anonymized crash and performance reports may be retained by Sentry for up to 90 days.

8. International Users

The App is operated from the United States. If you use the App from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the App, you consent to this transfer.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and post the new policy in the App and at https://startwithgod.app/privacy. Material changes will be communicated through the App or by email.
