Terms of Use

1. Description of Service

Start With God is a daily devotional and prayer-tracking application designed for personal spiritual use. It pairs a daily ESV scripture passage with original devotional content, a guided prayer timer, and streak tracking.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use Start With God. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian’s consent.

3. Account

Some features require you to create an account. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
• All activity that occurs under your account.
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Subscriptions and Billing

• Free trial: New users receive a 14-day free trial with full access to all features.
• Pricing: $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year after the trial.
• Auto-renewal: After the free trial, your subscription automatically renews at the then-current price unless you cancel before the end of the current billing period.
• Payment: All payments are processed by Apple or Google through your App Store or Play Store account. We never see or store your payment information.
• Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
• Refunds: All refund requests are handled directly by Apple or Google.
• Price changes: We may change subscription pricing with reasonable advance notice. You may cancel before the new price takes effect.

5. Your Content

Your prayer content belongs to you. We do not claim ownership of any content you create in the App. We use it only to provide the App’s features to you.

6. Devotional and Scripture Content

Devotional readings written by us are provided for personal spiritual enrichment. Scripture quotations are from the English Standard Version (ESV), used under the standard ESV permissions terms. You may not redistribute, republish, or commercially exploit our devotional content or large portions of ESV text from the App.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the App only for its intended purpose. You may not:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App.
• Interfere with or disrupt the App or its servers.
• Create accounts using automated methods or false identities.
• Resell or commercially exploit any content from the App.

8. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you materially violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account, or via our account deletion page.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

Start With God is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Devotional content is intended for personal spiritual reflection and is not a substitute for pastoral counseling, professional therapy, or medical advice.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Nathan Cofield and Start With God shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the App.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top and post the new terms at https://startwithgod.app/terms. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
